First things first. Set yourself to succeed this holiday season! Choose to be happy even if your circumstances are gray! You cant control what may be going on in your life, or the life of your kidos but you can choose to put a smile on your face and create happy memories in your heart! * If your kids are away from home on Thanksgiving, be brave. Send them a note to open on Thanksgiving Day telling them the many reasons you are thankful for them. Talk to them first thing, this will set your day and theirs off right. *If you aren't preparing a meal for your family and friends, get out there and find someone who needs your help! Go volunteer at a shelter or offer to help a friend who may be overwhelmed with the task of planning and cooking for her own family. You can be a blessing in so many ways. *Count your Blessings. Did you wake up today? If so you are blessed! Count those blessings and focus on them during this holiday season . Doing so will help chase away whatever "woe is me" feelings that may come. *Use this time to adapt old traditions and possibly add some new ones. In years past my house has been the hub of the holiday meals. I often miss those days of the house being full. But my house is still a home to my children and I so I do not sell them short just because there are 3 of us not and not 20. I set a fancy table, I plan, I decorate, etc. Since a 3 person dinner doesn't require as much preparation as a 20 person meal the kids and I have made a new tradition of going for pizza every Thanksgiving Eve. *Lastly, spend time with your Savior. Thank Him for His sacrifice and salvation. Allow Him to help you through this. Focus on His love for you. Show His love to others. For the Kidos: 3 Tips from my sweet kids to yours! 1- Eat lots & enjoy where you are at 2- Talk about funny memories of past Holidays, cause this is ok. 3- Even if its different, remember you are still with family.
